Anthropic names Robert Mahari to lead Claude for Legal
Anthropic has appointed Robert Mahari as its first Head of Claude for Legal, a newly created role tasked with overseeing product development and commercial strategy for the company's legal AI offering. Mahari, a legal AI researcher and founder of Akiva, joins Mark Pike, Anthropic's associate general counsel who has been leading Claude's legal vertical since the product's formal launch in May 2026. The appointment follows Anthropic's expansion of Claude for Legal through practice-area plugins and integrations with legal tech platforms, including a partnership with Thomson Reuters to connect Claude with CoCounsel Legal.
