PA-ED — Filing & Service
E.D. Pa. — PA-ED requires CM/ECF filing of all civil documents.
PA-ED requires CM/ECF filing of all civil documents. Sealed filings use a distinctive email-to-clerk mechanism rather than the standard CM/ECF sealed event.
Mechanics
- CM/ECF filing (Rule 5.1.2): Mandatory for civil cases. Pleadings, documents, motions, memoranda, and certificates of service must be electronically filed.
- Sealed filings (Rule 5.1.5): Motion to file under seal plus the sealed documents are emailed to ECF_Documents@paed.uscourts.gov. A cover sheet is required stating that the documents are sought to be filed under seal.
- Discovery materials (Rule 26.1(a)): NOT filed with the court.
- Service: Per FRCP 5, with electronic service via CM/ECF for registered users.
