Operating Model — Calendar Court

CA-CD is a calendar court. The party files the motion and selects a hearing date — the Motion Day — on the assigned judge's calendar. Briefing deadlines run backward from the chosen date: opposition 21 days before hearing, reply 14 days before, notice 28 days. Oral argument is the default expectation; counsel must affirmatively waive with court consent under L.R. 7-15.

CA-CD uses the formal motion track for all motions; there is no district-wide letter-brief track. For comparative reading on operating models across federal districts, see the operating-model atlas entry.
