Russian strike kills 12 in Zaporizhzhia, one day after Trump's Russian diesel sanctions waiver
Russian strikes killed 12 people in the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Saturday, October 10, 2026, and wounded about 14 more, Ukrainian officials said. Among the dead were three children, including a six-year-old girl whose apartment block was reduced to rubble. President Zelenskiy said Moscow answered the diesel decision by dropping five glide bombs on residential buildings. Local governor Mykhailo Semikin said several sites were hit at once in the early hours. The attack followed a decision announced Friday, October 9, in which President Trump said Putin agreed to supply more than 300,000 tons of Russian diesel immediately, with 500,000 tons in November, another 1 million tons after that, and 3 million tons later depending on refinery conditions. The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control issued a general license waiving sanctions on Russian diesel through April 2027.
