Tesla and SpaceX unveil Texas site plan for Musk’s massive Terafab chip factory
Tesla and SpaceX have publicly confirmed the location and released renderings for Terafab, a planned semiconductor manufacturing complex in Grimes County, Texas near Houston. The facility is designed as a jointly developed factory to produce advanced chips for Tesla vehicles, Optimus robots, Cybercabs, and SpaceX systems. The full buildout is described as approximately 100 million square feet, with the initial phase estimated at $16.8 billion and total buildout potentially reaching $119 billion. The site will handle chip manufacturing, packaging, and testing, and is expected to employ more than 3,000 workers.
