Why it matters

Filevine is positioning LOIS, its AI platform, as an integrated legal coworker embedded directly into law firm workflows rather than a standalone tool. The system allows attorneys to query case data, draft documents, analyze matters, and manage work across documents, facts, workflows, case management, billing, and compliance from a single interface. The company unveiled LOIS at its LEX Summit customer conference on October 8, 2025, and has continued rolling out features through 2026.

The company accelerated its product roadmap in January 2026 by acquiring Pincites, adding Word-native drafting and redlining capabilities to LOIS. The scope of additional planned features remains unclear.

The competitive landscape matters here. Legal-tech vendors are racing to make AI practical for daily practice, and Filevine is betting that integration—embedding AI into existing workflows rather than forcing attorneys to switch contexts—will be the differentiator. The recent acquisition signals the company is moving beyond announcement stage into commercialization. Firms evaluating case management and AI-assisted drafting tools should track whether LOIS's integrated approach delivers on its promise or creates new friction points in practice.
