Why it matters

Anthropic has fielded multiple investment offers valuing the AI startup at up to $800 billion, more than double its $380 billion valuation from February 2026. The company has not confirmed the offers, and Reuters could not independently verify them. Secondary market data from Caplight shows Anthropic shares trading at $688 billion, up 75% in three months.

The investment approaches come from unnamed venture capital firms. Anthropic's existing backers include GIC and Coatue, which led the February Series G round, along with strategic investors Microsoft and NVIDIA. The company closed that $30 billion Series G in February at a $380 billion post-money valuation.

The timing reflects Anthropic's accelerating business fundamentals. Run-rate revenue has surged to $30 billion annually, up from $9 billion at year-end 2025. The company now has over 1,000 enterprise customers spending more than $1 million annually—a figure that doubled in less than two months. Anthropic released its advanced Mythos model and is reportedly preparing for an IPO later in 2026. The $800 billion valuation would put Anthropic nearly on par with OpenAI's $852 billion valuation from March 2026, intensifying competition in enterprise AI.
